NHS IMAS offers National Health Service (NHS) organisations that need short or medium term support, the means to access the management expertise that exists throughout the NHS.

What we can offer

With its focussed programme approach, in-house specialists and network of NHS and independent resources, NHS IMAS supports its NHS clients to meet a broad spectrum of challenges. Support is tailored to the needs of the client and can include elements of one or more of the following:

Interim Capacity

NHS IMAS pull together individuals or teams for clients to provide short or medium term capacity and capability. This can be an individual for an established position that is vacant or roles devised to support a specific assignment or as part of a transformational change programme.

Organisational renewal

NHS IMAS can play a unique role in supporting whole organisational renewal by deploying and supporting key individuals. They use a critical mass of resources to have a major impact where there are severe challenges and/or the need for significant transformational change.

NHS IMAS can supply an individual or team to offer advice, support and/or to lead a specific piece of work in your organisation. Examples of consultancy work we have delivered include leading the implementation of hospital at night, service reviews and improvement such as maternity services and IM&T, and developing a strategic vision for an organisation.

NHS IMAS has carried out assignments in all types of NHS organisations across the country including acute trusts, foundation trusts (FTs), ambulance trusts, clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and national organisations such as NHS England and NHS Improvement. Examples of the assignments managed include:

  • Providing a Programme Director for Emergency Care within an acute trust
  • Providing a General Manager for an acute trust
  • Providing an interim Chief Finance Officer for a Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Providing a Head of Governance for a national project
  • Providing a Programme Director of Primary Care Transformation for a Clinical Commissioning Group

Using NHS IMAS provided a flexible and cost effective way to bring experience and challenge into the Trust. This enabled us to learn from elsewhere and consider alternative ways of resolving problems.
