Implementing new ideas on the frontline and lessons from Ambulatory Emergency Care - 4 July 2018

This webinar described the experience of developing the concept of Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC), getting acceptance for a new way of working, and generating clinical support for change. AEC has been operating in the UK for over 10 years but is still growing and not all acute units have an AEC service. However a recent audit showed it was still growing at a fast rate to provide same day emergency care. Well-designed AEC can reduce pressures in Emergency Departments and on beds and poorly designed AEC acts as a supply side driver, increasing congestion and activity in hospitals. Successful models depend on strong clinical leadership which will be the focus of this webinar.

The webinar was delivered by Vincent Connolly, Regional Medical Director (North Region) at NHS Improvement.
